Most traders know the BNB fee discount applies to spot trading, but it also reduces costs on Binance's futures markets. The mechanics are slightly different — the discount rate is 10% for futures rather than 25% — but the setup process is identical.
BNB Fee Discount Rate for Futures
Binance futures trading fees are already lower than spot fees. For USDT-Margined futures at the base tier:
- Standard maker fee: 0.02%
- Standard taker fee: 0.05%
- With BNB discount (10% off): maker 0.018%, taker 0.045%
While the discount percentage is smaller than the 25% on spot, futures traders often operate with higher position sizes and leverage — meaning the absolute dollar savings from even a small percentage reduction can be substantial.
How to Enable the BNB Discount for Futures
The BNB discount for futures is controlled by the same toggle as for spot trading. Once you enable "Using BNB Deduction" in your account settings, the discount automatically applies to all eligible markets — spot, margin, and futures — simultaneously. You do not need to configure them separately.
Make sure your BNB balance is in your spot wallet, not your futures wallet. Binance draws BNB for fee payments from spot regardless of which market you are trading.
Futures Funding Rates: A Separate Cost
The BNB fee discount does not reduce funding rates, which are periodic payments between long and short holders in perpetual futures contracts. Funding rates are market-driven and can be positive or negative. Traders holding leveraged futures positions should factor funding rate exposure into their cost calculations alongside trading fees.
Is the BNB Discount Worth It for Futures Traders?
Yes — even a 10% reduction on futures fees adds up quickly for active traders. A trader averaging $500,000 in monthly futures volume at standard taker rates would save approximately $250 per year from the BNB discount alone. Enable it, keep a small BNB buffer in your spot wallet, and let the savings accumulate passively.
